On the other hand, Twitter is providing new ways for publishers to monetize their news content beyond subscription options.
According to Twitter boss Elon Musk, the company will allow media publishers to charge users a fee for access to individual articles they post on the website, as early as next month.
“Launching next month, this platform will allow media publishers to bill users per article with one click,” tweeted Elon Musk, quoted Sunday (30/4/2023).
He explains that this allows users who don’t sign up for a monthly subscription to pay a higher price per article when they want to read articles occasionally.
“Must be win-win primary for both, media organizations and the public,” Elon Musk added.
However, until now, details about the feature were still unclear. Musk only said that it will start rolling out next month, it is not clear what types of accounts and media outlets can charge per article.
