Winning Champion, DKI Jakarta Water Polo Passes 2024 PON Qualification

– The DKI Jakarta Men’s Water Polo Team won the National Water Polo Championship entitled Indonesian Aquatic Festival 2023 in collaboration with Bank BTN – PTPN which took place at the Gelora Bung Karno Jakarta Aquatic Stadium, Sunday (18/6/2023).

In the final round, DKI Jakarta beat the men of West Java with a score of 18-11. Thus the son of DKI Jakarta is entitled to a gold medal and West Java won a silver medal. The bronze medal was won by Jambi, who beat South Sumatra with a score of 15-7.

The top four positions are entitled to qualify for the 2024 PON Aceh-North Sumatra. One more team that has qualified is ranked fifth, Central Papua after defeating DI Yogyakarta with a score of 15-9.

“I am grateful to be able to win gold medals at FAI 2023, both men’s and women’s. Furthermore, DKI is targeting a gold medal at 2024 PON. Before heading to PON, DKI athletes also competed in several championships such as the World Beach Games Bali, Asian Games 2023,” said PRSI DKI Jakarta Chairman, Calvin Legawa.

Meanwhile, from the diving event, DKI Jakarta also came out as the overall champion with a collection of 15 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 13 bronze medals. DKI Jakarta cannot catch up with East Java, which has to settle for second place by collecting 11 gold, 8 silver and 4 bronze.

“This is the initial capital for DKI athletes before joining the 2024 PON. Many have passed the PON qualification round, then DKI athletes will take part in the World Championships before heading to the 2024 PON,” said DKI Jakarta Coach, Harly Ramayani.

South Sumatra is in third place with 5 gold, 6 silver, 8 bronze medals. The fourth is West Java with 3 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze and the fifth is South Kalimantan with 1 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze.
