2024 European Cup Qualification, France vs Greece: Mbappe Delivers Les Bleus Victory

Kylian Mbappe’s penalty goal led to France’s 1-0 victory over Greece in the continuing qualification for the European Cup 2024 (Euro 2024) Group B at the Parc de Princess, Tuesday (20/6/2023) early morning WIB.

The 90 minute match was fierce. France was almost frustrated because it was difficult to penetrate the Greek defense. Despite being slightly superior in possession of the ball (59%), France made 13 attempts, six of which were towards the Greek goal.

Unfortunately, many opportunities have foundered. The French stalemate only worked in the 55th minute after Konstantinos Mavropanos fouled Antoine Griezmann in the restricted area.

As a result of this violation, Griezmann received medical treatment on the field. The referee had asked for VAR assistance before pointing to the spot. However, Mbappe’s kick was saved by Odisseas goalkeeper Vlachodimos.

Luckily, the referee asked for a repeat of the penalty kick and this time Mbappe did not make any mistakes. He managed to score a goal.

Greece, which was left behind, was even more in trouble after a player, Konstantinos Mavropanos, received a red card in the 69th minute. The former Arsenal defender was the last man in defense to violate Randal Kolo Muani who had a good chance to score.

France managed to maintain a 1-0 advantage until the game was over.
