Fiore did not want to force his students, after the previous day he was given a portion of a 10 km run and a US Navy-style breathing exercise session which was held in a swimming pool.

Instead, the fighters are given a grappling practice session. On this occasion, Fiore, who is a former wrestling coach, appeared to be directly involved and partnered with Cornelius Aritonang.

“This is normal. Previously I was also paired with other fighters, “said Fiore.

“I’m an intense person, I want them to know what to expect and it’s easier to see from a higher level,” he explained.

The exercise lasts for an hour. Merciless and unapologetic. Fiore looked angry and cursed when one of the fighters was caught apologizing to his comrades during practice.

Jake Buracker confirmed this. According to him, it was part of the training. They want to get used to it so that fighters don’t take too personally the rigors of training they undergo. “Yes, anything can happen during practice. Sometimes someone gets hit hard on the head and you don’t have to apologize for that. There’s nothing personal here, it’s just the training part,” Jake explained.

Apart from honing their grappling skills, MMA Fight Academy participants also undergo boxing training at the Boxing Club. This agenda was held the next morning, a few hours before the sparring partners.
