AJC 2023: Danish/Fauzia and Prahdiska advance, Steven/Keren stop

– Two Indonesian representatives, the mixed doubles Muhammad Danish Maulad Ferary/Fauzia Ainun Mardiah and the men’s singles Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo qualified for the round of 32 of the Badminton Asia Junior Championships (AJC) 2023. However, the mixed doubles Steven/Keren Caroline were eliminated.

The Danish/Fauzia mixed doubles advanced to the second round after defeating Sri Lankan representatives, Aashinsa Herath/Ranithma Liyanage at the Amongraga Sports Hall, Yogyakarta, Wednesday (12/7/2023).

Danish/Fauzia won with a score of 21-15, 21-11 over Herath/Liyanage.

“We are still adapting to the windy playing field. I try to play with a fast tempo and attack immediately,” said Danish.

This victory brought Danish/Fauzia to the next round and will face Taiwan’s mixed doubles, Lai Po Yu/Wang Pei Yu.

The Lai/Wang pair advanced to the second round after overcoming the Hong Kong mixed doubles, Lam Tsz To/Chan Wing Lam with a score of 21-14, 21-11.

It’s a shame that Danish/Fauzia’s positive steps were not followed by the pair Steven/Keren Caroline who were defeated by Chinese representatives, Chen Yong Rui/Jiang Pei Xi. Steven/Keren stopped after falling with a score of 5-21, 21-15, 5-21.

“We lost momentum when we were able to win the second game. Our game even decreased, “said Steven.

From the men’s singles sector, Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo also qualified for the next round after defeating Malaysian representative Jan Jireh Lee in the first round with a score of 21-15, 21-10.

The men’s singles born on February 9, 2005 admitted that he was motivated to perform well considering that his family from Pati came to support him directly.

“My family came to support me fighting. Grateful for the victory achieved today. Today I played without a burden and tried to show my best game,” concluded Prahdiska.
