AJC 2023: Indonesia advances to the final after beating Thailand 3-0

– The Indonesian badminton team advanced to the 2023 Asia Junior Championships (AJC) badminton final after winning 3-0 over Thailand at Amongrogo Sports Hall, Yogyakarta, Monday (10/7/2023).

Indonesia opened the score first through mixed doubles. Adrian Pratama/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu who defeated Tanakorn Meechai/Fungfa Korpthammakit with a score of 21-13, 21-15.

The captain of the Indonesian team, Alwi Farhan doubled the advantage after defeating Nachakorn Pusri through a rubber game battle 19-21, 21-8, 21-11.

Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari, who took part in the third match, ensured Indonesia’s step into the final after defeating Saranporn Sombutwatthananukool 17-21, 21-7, 21-18.

“My victory today has a mixed taste. I was not confident and under pressure because I was not able to maximize the opportunity against China,” said Mutiara.

Mutiara’s victory was inseparable from the continuous support from her colleagues in the stands and the audience at the stadium.

This made the champion of the Slovenia International 2021 even more excited and was finally able to win and be a determinant of Indonesia’s success in qualifying for the final.

“I thank my colleagues who have provided total support for me. I thought throughout the match that I could give my best for those who have supported me. So far my game has been better. I can get out of the opponent’s pressure in this fight and get out of my comfort zone,” said Mutiara.

In the final round, the Red and White Youth team will face Japan, which won 3-1 in the previous game over Taiwan.
