Friends for Life – The actors of the RTL comedy series Friends for Life have never benefited from the years of repetitions of the series. According to protagonist Peter Lusse, they did not get “a red penny” for it.

That told Lusse Sunday in the NPO Radio 1 program De Perstribune. The series was shown on television in the early nineties and was repeated many times afterwards.

“It is what it is, you can’t change it,” said the now 63-year-old Lusse. He played the role of Eddie in Friends for Life.

“Edwin de Vries has filed a lawsuit for my daughter and I,” Lusse continued. “He didn’t win that. Yes, those contracts were watertight. We didn’t think at the time that we had to pay attention to that, because that whole repetition was not such a thing at all.”

According to Lusse, the reruns only started with Friends for Life and other similar series. “I do have a moral judgment about it. I think it’s a pimp mentality,” said the actor.

Lusse is not “sour” about it. “I do give my opinion, but to say that I have been awake… No, I’m not going to start there.”

The original series of Friends for Life was broadcast between 1991 and 1993. A total of 65 episodes were made. In addition to Lusse, the female lead role was for Mary-Lou van Stenis.
