Fainting at the Station, National Paralympic Athlete David Jacobs Dies

Jakarta Paralympic table tennis athlete David Jacobs has died at the age of 45. It was reported that David, who had strengthened the national table tennis team in international events such as the SEA Games, had fainted at the train station while on his way to Solo.

It was reported that David fainted at the station on Thursday night, and was treated at Husada Hospital before finally dying at 4.00 WIB this morning.

David is reportedly busy for a tour to Slovenia with his colleagues.

The sad news was conveyed by Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Paralympic Committee (NPC) Indonesia Rima Ferdianto, Friday (28/4/2023) morning.

“Yes, it’s true. I’m on my way to Jakarta (to the funeral home),” said Rima.

Rima admitted that she did not know the exact cause and time details of David Jacobs’ death.

Condolences abounded on social media, including from the official Instagram account of NPC Jakarta where David Jacobs is the chairman.

Yesterday, David Jacobs via his official Instagram account (@davidjacobs_tabletenis77 still uploads photos on Insta Story. He also shares photo collages of togetherness with family.

David Jacobs was born with the full name Dian David Michael Jacobs on June 21, 1997. He is a table tennis para-athlete who has a myriad of achievements, including winning two bronze medals at the 2012 Olympics in London and 2020 in Tokyo for the class 10 individual number.

In addition, he also collected three gold medals at the Asian Para Games in 2014 in Incheon (class 10 individual) and 2018 in Jakarta (class 10 individual and team).

David Jacobs is living proof that there are no limits to achievement. He had functional problems in one of his hands.

He also appeared several times in the biennial Games in Southeast Asia, including in Vietnam (2003), the Philippines (2005), and Thailand (2007).

After that, Jacobs started his career as a class 10 specialist table tennis athlete by officially joining as an NPC Indonesia athlete in 2010.
