Following Men's Doubles, Indonesian Women's Doubles secure 1 place in the final at the Swiss Open
Jakarta, Beritasatu.com– Following the men's doubles, the Indonesian women's doubles secured a place in the 2024 Swiss Open final which will take place in Basel, Switzerland, Sunday (24/3/2024) following the men's doubles doing the same thing. This certainty was obtained after the first seeds, Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, will meet their compatriots, Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto in the semifinals which will be held today, at 18.00 WIB.
Quoted from Between, Apri/Fadia previously defeated the seventh seed from France, Margot Lambert/Anne Tran 21-13, 21-13 in the quarter-finals on Friday (22/3/2204).
Meanwhile, Lanny/Ribka, who appeared in the last match of the day, won over the Japanese pair Rui Hirokami/Yuna Kato in two straight games 21-18, 21-17.
Apri/Fadia and Lanny/Ribka followed in the footsteps of Indonesian men's doubles Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin who had previously confirmed the all-Indonesian match in today's semifinal round.
In the quarter-finals, Bagas/Fikri won over Thailand's representatives Supak Jomkoh/Kittinupong Kedren in the quarter-finals in two straight games 21-19, 21-11.
Meanwhile, Leo/Daniel followed in the footsteps of their compatriots after winning a fierce match over sixth seeds from Malaysia Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee in the last eight.
In today's semifinal round, there are six Indonesian representatives who will compete. Apart from the two women's and men's doubles pairs, there is another men's doubles pair, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani who will face the top British pair Ben Lane/Sean Vendy in the semifinals.
With the presence of Sabar/Reza in the top four, it is not impossible for them to create an all-Indonesian final match on Sunday (24/3/2024) if they can beat Lane/Vendy.
Previously, Sabar/Reza advanced to the next round after beating Choong Hon Jian/Muhammad Haikal (Malaysia) 21-16, 22-20 in the quarter-finals.
Furthermore, women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung also advanced to the semifinals after defeating eighth seed from Thailand Pornpawee Chochuwong 21-13, 21-13. Today, Gregoria will meet Japanese representative Nozomi Okuhara.
