In order to support the National Team, PSSI revives PT Garuda Football

– PSSI has revived PT Garuda Sepakbola Indonesia (GSI) with the aim of supporting the national team’s need to become more professional and profitable.

PSSI owns 95 percent of PT GSI’s shares, while the remaining five percent is owned by the Indonesian Football Bakti Foundation. This company will manage all of PSSI’s business assets in a professional, transparent and accountable manner.

“Evidently, we also want to have another source of income. As PSSI, it’s not only possible to express our wishes, but we also have to work. As I have said based on comparative studies with several countries, including the Japan Football Federation, they have a source of income,” said Erick in a press conference at the Danareksa Building, Jakarta, Friday (23/6/2023).

“Apart from the league and government support, they are also making efforts to industrialize football itself,” he added.

Apart from the problem of industrializing football, Erick stated that the existence of PT GSI would also have an effect on increasing unity among football stakeholders, including fans.

“This is related to the Bakti Football Indonesia Foundation which we just launched. Since 5 percent of PT GSI’s shares are owned by this foundation, and they will receive an interim dividend every three months, the foundation will have an enduring fund for the mutual benefit of former players. national team player,” added Erick.

For the fans, Erick stated that PT GSI would pay more attention to them. This is intended to make fans more involved with the national team and they feel they belong to the team.

“We will also start doing fan engagement. For example, if 5,000 people come for a national team game here, we better not do it at home because the cost is higher, we better play abroad. But what does that mean? supporters of the national team cannot support directly. This is the reason why we initiated the ‘let’s redden our stadium’ movement,” said the figure who also serves as Minister of BUMN.

With professional management by PT GSI, it is hoped that the national team can attract more local football fans.

“With this PT, we want to make the national team have a high selling value and become an attraction. The number of national team fans must be greater than club fans, and that is our target,” he concluded.
