Indonesia vs Palestine Tonight: Garuda Squad Ready to Play Total Football

– The Indonesian national team will face Palestine in the FIFA Matchday which will be played at the Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya, Wednesday (14/6/2023) at 19.30 WIB. This will be the first match for the Indonesian national team on the FIFA matchday in June before facing Argentina five days later.

The coach of the Indonesian National Team, Shin Tae-yong, believes that Palestine is not an easy opponent for his squad. According to him, facing a team that has a higher FIFA ranking than Indonesia will be used to measure Indonesia’s strength.

The reason is that in the 2024 Asian Cup later, Indonesia will be in a group with countries that have a higher level.

“Palestine is a good team in the FIFA rankings. This match is to measure what our national team is like. And tomorrow we will hold a game total football so without a position that plays as a whole the players,” said Shin Tae-yong, when press conferenceTuesday (13/6/2023).

Judging from the ranking, Palestine is much better, namely 93rd in the world, while Indonesia is ranked 149th.

Indonesia and Palestine have met twice at the senior level. The first meeting occurred in a friendly match at Manahan Stadium, Solo, in 2011.

Even though the preparation time is tight, the Garuda National Team remains optimistic that they can play optimally. Of the 26 players called up by the national team, all are ready to be deployed except for Sandy Walsh who is still recovering from an injury.

“If you count from the date of the first test, it is quite long, but the complete squad is only a short time. So you can say that for preparation we only have a little time. But during the preparation time, the players all worked hard both in preparation for the match against Palestine. The condition of the players is good,” he added.
