Johnny G Plate Suspect, AHY: This is a Test for the Change Coalition

Democratic Party chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) responded to the appointment of the Minister of Communication and Informatics Jhonny G Plate as a suspect in alleged project corruption basetransceiver station (BTS) 4G Dedicated to the Ministry of Communication and Information.

AHY revealed that the determination of the Nasdem Secretary General as a suspect was a test for the parties that are members of the Change Coalition, namely Nasdem, PKS and Democrats.

“This is a test, a test for the three political parties to be able to stick to their commitments and also a big hope, that if this coalition can sail, God willing, we can bring changes and improvements,” AHY said when met at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta , quoted Friday (19/5/23).

AHY also stressed that the Coalition for Change remained solid. The three parties are still strong united to be able to bring about change.

“So this doesn’t affect enthusiasm, it doesn’t affect solidity. In fact, I can feel that after this situation, God willing, it will become more solid, God willing, we will have more strength so that together we can bring about change,” he said.

It is known that the Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G Plate, has been named a suspect in the corruption case in the procurement of Bakti BTS infrastructure. After becoming a suspect, Johnny Plate was immediately thrown into custody.

The Director of Investigations for the Jampidsus at the AGO, Kuntadi, said that from the results of the investigation, his party concluded that Johnny Plate was suspected of being involved in the BTS corruption case. Johnny in this case has the capacity as a budget user as well as a minister.
The Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) stated that the value of state losses due to the BTS Bakti corruption case reached IDR 8,032,084,133,795

“Then the person concerned will be detained for the next 20 days at the Salemba Detention Center, the AGO branch,” Kuntadi said during a press conference at the AGO Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (17/5/2023).
