Jonatan Christie Reveals Strategy to Overthrow Shi Yu Qi in the 2024 BAC Semifinals

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Indonesian men's singles player Jonatan Christie revealed his strategy for overthrowing Shi Yu Qi in the semifinals of the 2024 Asian Badminton Championships or BAC in Ningbo, China, Saturday (13/4/2024).

Jonathan overthrew the 1st seed in BAC 2024 who was also the mainstay of host China Shi Yu Qi in three games, 18-21, 21-19, 21-12.

“First of all, praise God for this success. All thanks to God's help that makes me able to play well. Can play with enjoy. “You can get out of the pressure and be happy with this victory,” said Jonatan Christie.

In the final, Jojo, who is seeded in third place, will meet the winner between Kodai Naraoka from Japan who is seeded 4th and seeded 5th Li Shi Feng from Tingkok.

According to Jojo, his nickname, in the first game against Shi Yu Qi he was less calm when he was leading 18. “In the final points I was even less calm. “The use of strategy and hitting were not in sync,” said the All England champion.

According to him, in the second game when he was leading 18-10, he lost a lot of points. It wasn't because he lost focus, but because Shi Yu Qi's playing was much neater.

“The defense was tighter too, so several times I was impatient or the returns were in my hands,” he said.

In the third game, said Jojo, he tried his best to reduce mistakes. “I also put more pressure first so that the opponent is also pressured. “This strategy is successful,” added the player from Jakarta.

Jonatan Christie is the only Indonesian representative who was able to advance to the final of BAC 2024. Jojo was burdened by being the only player who played in the semifinals of BAC 2024.

“As the only Indonesian representative in the semifinals, I just tried to reduce thoughts like that. I'd be lying if I wasn't overwhelmed. “However, I just try to reduce it so it doesn't interfere with my appearance,” said Jojo.

Other Indonesian representatives had fallen in the early rounds. There were three other Indonesian representatives who fell in the quarter-finals of BAC 2024.

The three representatives are Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Fajar Alfian/M Rian Ardianto, and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
