Having problems scoring goals, Manchester United is looking for a new striker

Manchester, Beritasatu.com – The Manchester United club needs a new striker to help them get out of their goal scoring problem. This was expressed by manager Erik ten Hag ahead of the away match in the English Premier League against Bournemouth, Saturday (13/4/2024).

Manchester United has only scored 45 goals this season, the lowest statistic among the top 10 teams in the standings.

Danish player Rasmus Hojlund (21), who was signed for around US$ 90 million last August, has only scored 13 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions.

Anthony Martial has only scored two goals this season and has been absent due to injury since last January. Meanwhile the club got help from Argentinian left winger Alejandro Garnacho, who scored nine goals in 41 appearances. Then Marcus Rashford, who scored 30 goals last season, has now only scored eight goals in 38 matches.

Ten Hag has ruled out the possibility of bringing in a striker in the January transfer window, citing regulatory reasons financial fair play. However, they have now confirmed these plans ahead of the close of the competitive season.

“I think that will help. You need more choices. You need doubles in every position,” the Dutch manager told reporters.

“Some positions we didn't have a choice this season, the striker position, the left-back position, and that had a negative impact on the results. We are working on plans behind the scenes with the team. “The plan is ready but we have to implement it,” he stressed.

The manager added that he was open to ideas from the club's new owners, and hoped they could collaborate. “I have confidence in the new owners that they will work as quickly as possible and come up with a good new structure and they can implement (the plan),” he added.

Currently Manchester United is in sixth place in the Premier League standings, with 49 points with seven games remaining.
