– Cesar Azpilicueta has officially left Chelsea after 11 seasons playing for the English Premier League club. This player from Spain admitted that it was actually difficult to leave The Blues.

He has been one of the pillars of Chelsea since his arrival from Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille in 2012. Azpilicueta has appeared in over 500 matches in all competitions, scoring 17 goals, giving 56 assistsand won all major titles with the English club.

In a farewell video posted on Chelsea’s official website, Azpilicueta expressed his feelings, “It’s very difficult for me to express how I feel, my time here has been incredible. I feel I gave everything and I really like it.”

Azpilicueta says that the best moment of his career was winning the Champions League with Chelsea at Porto. He also confirmed that Chelsea is his home, will always be his home, and he looks forward to returning in a different role in the future.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has hailed Cesar Azpilicueta as a club legend and left a lasting mark on the club. In a statement on the club’s official website, Boehly said, “Cesar has left a lasting mark at Chelsea, as a warrior, champion and a loyal Chelsea legend. He has set the standard at the club for over a decade and shown everyone what to do. to achieve success.”

Azpilicueta, who is 33 years old, is expected to join La Liga side Atletico Madrid on a free transfer after Chelsea agreed to let him go despite still having 12 months remaining on his contract.

During his time at Chelsea, Azpilicueta won the Champions League, two Premier League titles, two Europa League trophies, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

He is one of the latest Chelsea players to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy all moving to the Saudi Arabian club.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have brought in two new players, namely Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, and have a new coach, Mauricio Pochettino.
