Man City Threatened Without De Bruyne Against Real Madrid
– Manchester City received bad news because they were threatened with appearing without Kevin De Bruyne, when they visited Real Madrid leg Champions League semi-final first, May 9.
The Belgian midfielder missed Manchester City’s game against Fulham on Sunday through injury after a superb midweek display in the thrashing of Arsenal at home.
The former Wolfsburg man scored twice against Mikel Arteta’s side but he was forced to miss his team’s 2-1 away win at Fulham.
“(De Bruyne) is not feeling well,” Pep Guardiola told reporters Sky Sports.
“He has an injury and he can’t travel. I don’t know how long (he will be out).”
De Bruyne was replaced by Julian Alvarez with 10 minutes remaining in Man City’s crucial duel against Arsenal. Although he did not limp his way to the bench, Guardiola told a news conference his players had asked to be substituted after feeling uncomfortable.
There’s still a week left leg the first Champions League semi-final between Real Madrid and Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Before visiting Madrid, Man City will host West Ham on Wednesday and Leeds on Saturday in their quest for the Premier League title this season. It remains to be seen whether De Bruyne will be fit enough to feature in the clash at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
