Putri KW and Chico Step into the Quarterfinals of the 2023 Taipei Open

– Putri Kusuma Wardani (Putri KW) and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo are the only mainstays for Indonesia in the remaining singles at the 2023 Taipei Open.

Both of them managed to qualify for the Taipei Open 2023 quarter-finals after defeating their opponents in the top 16, Thursday (22/6/2023).

KW’s daughter managed to subdue the vice host Huang Ching Ping. In the match that took place at Tian Mu Arena, Putri KW won in straight sets 21-13, 21-19 with a duration of 37 minutes.

This victory brought Putri to challenge the third seed from Malaysia, Beiwen Zhang in the quarter-finals, Friday (22/6/2023).

The step to the quarter-finals was also achieved by Chico. Occupying the eighth seed, Chico had to work hard to get rid of the Malaysian representative, Leong Jun Hao.

Winning 21-18 in the first set, Chico faced fierce resistance from his opponent. Chico gave up losing 14-21 to force the third set to play. Rising from the second set, Chico managed to finish the third set with a 21-16 victory.

In the quarter-finals, Chico will face a tough opponent, namely Kenta Nishimoto, Friday (22/6/2023).

One of the other men’s singles representatives, Tommy Sugiarto had to be eliminated after being defeated by Prannoy HS 9-21, 17-21
