SEA Games 2023: Indonesia’s U-22 National Team Advances to the Semifinals with a Clean Sheet, Indra Sjafri is Proud

– The U-22 Indonesian national team has advanced to the semifinals of the 2023 SEA Games after beating Timor Leste 3-0 in the third match of Group A at the Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium, Sunday (7/5/2023) evening WIB.

With this, Indonesia has won three games and has not conceded a clean sheet. Starting with a 3-0 win over the Philippines, Indonesia then beat Myanmar 5-0 and now crushed Timor Leste 3-0. Indonesia has one last match left against Cambodia on May 10.

Indonesia’s achievements so far have made Coach Indra Sjafri proud.

“11 goals without conceding is a result of the hard work of all the players. Of course, we thank the 20 players who were selected. Moreover, we became the first team to qualify for the semifinals,” said coach Indra Sjafri after the match.

According to Indra, his troops have passed the first stage even though they still have one match left against the host Cambodia, Wednesday (10/5/2023).

Indra is also grateful that all the players are in the best condition, aka no one was injured, making it easier for him to rotate in the next match.

“There is still one match left and we are also waiting for the results in Group B. After that we will just count the steps for the next match,” said the man from West Sumatra.

Indonesia is now at the top of Group A standings with a collection of 9 points. It is impossible for Indonesia to catch up with the second-placed team Cambodia, which has only collected four points, as well as the third-placed team, Myanmar and the fourth-placed team, Timor Leste, both of which have only collected three points.
