Skip the Tense Battle, Ginting to the Semifinals of BAC 2023

– Men’s singles Anthony Sinisuka Ginting advanced to the semifinals of the Badminton Asia Championships or Badminton Asia Championships, Thursday (28/4/2023). The player from Cimahi emphasized that he did not want to be dictated by his opponent to be the key to his victory over the representative of China, Li Shi Feng.

In the semifinals, Ginting will meet Japanese representative, Kante Tsuneyama. He advanced to the last four after defeating the eighth seed, Prannoy HS. The Indian representative collapsed after not being able to continue the match in the third game while trailing 9-13. Previously, Tsuneyama had won 21-11 in the first game.

Ginting is one of the two Indonesian representatives who have made it to the BAC semifinals apart from the mixed doubles, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.

Dejan/Gloria advanced to the last four on Saturday (29/4/2023) after defeating Indian representatives, Rohan Kapoor/Reddy Sikki, 21-18, 19-21, and 21-15. Dejan/Gloria are entitled to appear in the semifinals after fighting for 1 hour and 5 minutes.

In the semifinals, Dejan/Gloria will face Malaysian doubles, Goh Soon Huat/Lai Shevon Jemie. The eighth seed qualified for the last four after defeating Indonesian doubles, Rinov Rivaldi/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, 21-17, 15-21, and 21-19.

The other mixed doubles, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti, failed to advance to the semifinals. They stopped after being defeated by the first seeds Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong, 11-21, 17-21. Praveen/Melati gave up after 30 minutes of fighting.

The women’s doubles, Febriana/Amalia, were stopped by the Thai doubles, Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai, 21-16, 18-21, and 11-21.

Fajar/Rian also failed to advance to the last four after surrendering 20-22 15-21 to the eighth-seeded Malaysian pair, Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi, with a score of 20-22 15-21. Fajar/Rian gave up after playing 37 minutes.

The other men’s doubles, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana, also failed to advance to the semifinals after being stopped by the Japanese pair who were also fourth seeds, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi with a score of 14-21, 17-21. Fikri/Bagas fell after 35 minutes of fighting.

Gregoria Mariska Tunjung added to the list of Indonesian representatives who fell out after being stopped by the Chinese representative who was also the third seed, Chen Yu Fei. The Wonogiri-born player had won the second game in a rubber game before giving up 10-21, 21-19, and 13-21. Gregoria was eliminated despite fighting hard and played 59 minutes.

Indonesia’s final men’s doubles hope Thursday night, Ahsan/Hendra, also failed to win the top four tickets. The third seed surrendered to the Indian representative, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, 11-21, 12-21. Ahsan/Hendra gave up after playing 28 minutes.
