The Women’s Volleyball National Team is Determined to Win Silver at the 2023 SEA Games

The Indonesian Women’s Volleyball National Team is determined to win a silver medal at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, 5-17 May 2023.

At the 2023 SEA Games, the toughest opponents to face are Thailand and Vietnam. To beat Thailand is very difficult, because Thailand is world class, not just Southeast Asia.

The Thai team is used to playing at the world level. The players are also used to participating in volleyball leagues in Europe which are joined by world players. At the 2021 SEA Games, Indonesia won a bronze medal.

“Speaking of competition, if our competition is against Thailand, you know that Thailand has participated in international events. The second is our benchmark for Vietnam. If we want silver, like it or not we have to go all out when we meet in the top four. Hopefully,” said the coach of the Indonesian women’s volleyball national team, Alim Suseno, after the release of the national team at the Volleyball Padepokan General Police Kuarto, Sentul, Bogor, West Java, Saturday (29/4/2023).

According to him, with one pool with Thailand, Myanmar and Malaysia, Indonesia must win two wins. The victory was achieved by defeating Myanmar and Malaysia.

“So we have to take two wins to get to the semifinals. God willing, Vietnam will meet in the semifinals,” said Alim Suseno, who brought Bandung BJB Tandamata to the Proliga championship twice.

The Indonesian national team will still bring 14 players to the 2023 SEA Games, even though there will be 12 players playing. By only bringing 12 players, the quick spiker and libero will be reduced by 1 person.

“We will utilize the 12 existing players. With one libero and one speaker out, in fact they brought 4 outside, 2 opposite, 3 quickers, and 1 libero (two more shops),” said Alim.
