This is the reason Lewis Hamilton appeared disappointing at the Austrian GP

– British driver Lewis Hamilton said the Mercedes team’s disappointing showing in the Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix was down to a lack of performance.

At this race at the Austrian Grand Prix Mercedes put in a lackluster performance after the team showed encouraging signs of progress in recent races following their huge improvement in Monaco.

Sky F1’s Ted Kravitz reported during the race that Hamilton was struggling with a brake problem, but the seven-time world champion denied this.

“No problem. What’s the problem?” a visibly confused Hamilton asked.

Hamilton added, “There’s nothing wrong with the car. The car is fine.”

Asked if it was simply performance-related, Hamilton replied, “Yup.”

Hamilton said he was surprised by the speed of McLaren’s Lando Norris, which made him only finish seventh in the ninth race of this series. He also said the performance at the Red Bull Ring showed the work Mercedes still had to do to improve their underperforming cars.

“McLaren and Lando did an amazing job today, McLaren is very fast,” he said.

“Don’t expect them to be as fast as them but we also don’t expect them to be as slow as we are,” said the 38-year-old.

“This track just highlights a few areas for us to work on. Not the biggest days. The performance of this car does not surprise me.”

Hamilton was only able to reach the finish line in seventh position in the Austrian GP. Red Bull racer, Max Verstappen, continues to show dominance in Formula 1 racing this season after winning the race at the Austrian Grand Prix, Sunday (2/7/2023), at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, Spielberg.

While the seven-time champion, Lewis Hamilton was only able to finish seventh in this ninth series of races. This result confirmed Verstappen’s position in the drivers’ standings with 229 points.

The second position is filled by his teammate, Sergio Perez, with 148 points. Old racer Fernando Alonso sits in third place with a collection of 129 points. Lewis Hamilton is fourth with 108 points. While the occupants of the fifth position of the standings are filled with Carlos Sainz Jr. with 74 points. Charles Leclerc was only able to sit in sixth place with 72 points.
