Austrian GP Results: 8 Drivers Penalized, Sainz and Hamilton Drop in Rank
– The FIA released the final result classification for the Austrian Grand Prix (Austrian GP) after a series of penalties for breaches of track boundaries. Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton are the two drivers downgraded in the new standings.
Meanwhile, Lando Norris climbed to fourth position while Fernando Alonso and George Russell also moved up the rankings.
The new classification has been released after the FIA imposed penalties on eight drivers after the end of the Red Bull Ring race, which was won by Max Verstappen. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari and Sergio Perez of Red Bull were in second and third respectively.
The result leaves Verstappen leading the standings by 81 points from Perez, which equates to more than three wins, ahead of next weekend’s British Grand Prix.
