Thomas and Uber Cup Draw Results, PBSI: All Power Equally

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Head of the Development and Achievement Division of the Central Board of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) Ricky Soebagdja commented on the results of the 2024 Thomas and Uber Cup draws.

“Looking at the lottery results, the results are indeed like that. We can't avoid it. Because the current power map, both at Thomas and Uber, is all evenly distributed. “We can't choose an easy opponent now,” said Ricky, Friday (22/3/2024).

According to him, the strength of the four Thomas Cup teams is evenly distributed. “Even so, from the head to head count of the five numbers, I think Indonesia still has the advantage. “To win, I think the strategy is we have to take two singles and one doubles,” said Ricky.

It is said that competition in the Uber Cup is also tight. However, Indonesia still has a chance to escape the group competition.

“Even though there is Japan, I think we can overcome two other opponents like Hong Kong and Uganda,” said the 1994 Olympic champion.

According to him, what needs to be prepared for the next match is preparation for the final round of Thomas and Uber, all players must be in good shape. The players must focus on facing each match.

“Also, don't get injured. “What is no less important is that your fighting spirit must be maintained and improved,” said Ricky.

It is said that success at the All England must be a momentum for the revival of the Thomas Indonesia team. “We must have great confidence and motivation for all players to be able to play the best game,” said Rexy Mainaky's former partner.

Previously, the Indonesian badminton team was in the same group as strong countries, namely India, Thailand and England in the Thomas Cup which will be held in Chengdu, China, at the end of April. The four teams are in group C.

This is the sixth time Indonesia has been in the same group as Thailand in the Thomas Cup group draw since 2014.

There are 12 other countries that will participate in the men's team tournament this time. China, South Korea, Canada and Australia are in group A.

Group B is filled with Japan, Taiwan, Germany and Czechia. Next, group D consists of Denmark, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Algeria.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian women's badminton team is also in group C along with Japan, Hong Kong and Uganda. The Indonesian women's squad previously qualified for the Uber Cup after emerging as semifinalists at the 2024 Asian Team Badminton Championships (BATC) last month.

The Uber Cup group A draw consists of China, India, Canada and Singapore. In Group B there are Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia and Australia.

Finally, South Korea, Denmark, the United States and Mexico are in group D in the 2024 Uber Cup drawing which was held on Friday (22/3/2024).
