Austrian GP Champion, Verstappen is getting stronger at the top of the standings

– Red Bull racer, Max Verstappen, continues to show dominance in Formula 1 racing this season after winning the race at the Austrian Grand Prix, Sunday (2/7/2023), at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, Spielberg.

The racer from the Netherlands entered the finish line in first place with a record time of 1 hour 25 minutes and 33.607 seconds. Ferrari racer Charles Leclerc came in second with a difference of 5.155 seconds. Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perrez, took third place.

Meanwhile, Leclerc’s partner at Scuderia Ferrari, Carlos Sainz Jr, finished the race in fourth place followed by McLaren driver Lando Norris. Fernando Alonso followed in sixth position.

While the seven-time champion, Lewis Hamilton was only able to finish seventh in this ninth series of races. Leclerec actually had time to overtake Verstappen and took the lead in 10 rounds.

But with his persistence, Verstappen regained the lead on lap 35. This 25-year-old racer was never overtaken again and won his 42nd victory in F1 racing. This result confirmed Verstappen’s position in the drivers’ standings with 229 points.

The second position is filled by his teammate, Sergio Perez, with 148 points. Old racer Fernando Alonso sits in third place with a collection of 129 points.

Lewis Hamilton is fourth with 108 points. While the occupants of the fifth position of the standings are filled with Carlos Sainz Jr. with 74 points. Charles Leclerc was only able to sit in sixth place with 72 points.
