Garuda Select U-17 Selection Begins, Bima Sakti and Indra Sjafri Directly Monitor Players for the U-17 Indonesian National Team

The coach of the U-17 Indonesian national team Bima Sakti plans to summon players of descent to strengthen the Red and White team in the 2023 U-17 World Cup.

However, the selection for these players will not be made immediately. He will summon the staff in stages, while adjusting to the needs of his concoction team.

As is known, Indonesia is like a windfall because it was given the opportunity to appear in this edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup competition.

FIFA as the international football federation entrusts Indonesia to host a substitute for Peru, which is considered unprepared in terms of infrastructure.

Bima Sakti, who was previously appointed as the coach of the Indonesian national team at the 2023 U-17 World Cup, also plans to conduct a training camp (TC) and select players starting in July.

The selection process will be held in 9 cities in the country, and will not rule out bringing in players of descent who already have Indonesian passports.

“I already have a lot of data (hereditary players), yes. There are several players, there are 6-7 players,” said Bima Sakti when contacted by Liputan6.com on Friday (30/6/2023) evening WIB.

“However, later we will call for a gradual selection. Because we also see the need for which position we have to (strengthen),” he said again.

“And this is also (proof that) we provide opportunities for diaspora players who incidentally have Indonesian blood, whether from their mother or father, and have an Indonesian passport,” said the 46-year-old coach.
