Impressions of Indonesian Badminton Players Celebrating Eid While Competing in the Asian Championships

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – A number of Indonesian badminton players shared their impressions of having to celebrate Eid al-Fitr this year by remaining focused on competing in one of the important tournaments ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, namely the 2024 Badminton Asian Championships (BAC) in Ningbo, China, Wednesday (10/4/2024).

For the mixed doubles Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, the Eid moments at home which they missed this year will be a motivation for them to give their best performance this week.

“For me, it's also called work, yes, in the term, so, like it or not, something has to be sacrificed. So, for us, whatever the circumstances, whatever the situation, we must always be ready. “Moreover, this is a beautiful day, Eid al-Fitr, hopefully it can give us motivation so we can play optimally and well,” said Rehan, quoted from a short PP PBSI video.

“This is our responsibility and we have to live with it,” said Lisa.

Other mixed doubles players, Nita Violina Marwah and women's singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani, also did not deny that being able to remain in top form despite all conditions, including not being able to spend Eid with family in Indonesia, is a form of responsibility as a professional athlete.

“It's certainly sad, we just have to carry out our responsibilities as athletes. “So whatever the circumstances, we have to be ready (to compete),” said Nita Violina.

Putri admitted that she was sad not to be able to be with her family during Eid.

“It certainly feels sad not to be able to gather with family, but here we also have a responsibility as athletes and to play the competition, regardless of (whether) there is Eid (moment) or not,” he said.

The same thing was said by the 2024 Swiss Open champions Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto, who will face the first seeds from China Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan in the last 32 of BAC 2024.

Even though they are sad, Lanny/Ribka are determined to stay focused and enjoy the match at one of the biggest badminton championships in Asia.

Lanny is also sad about not being able to celebrate Eid with his family. “However, this is our responsibility, so it must be done (well),” said Lanny.
