League 1: David Da Silva Penalty Saves Persib from Defeat against Madura United

– The goal scored by David da Silva from the penalty spot saved the host Persib Bandung from defeat when hosting Madura United in the first match in the 2023/24 League 1 competition, Sunday (2/7/2023).

Playing at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium, Persib was left behind long enough after Teja Paku Alam’s goal was broken by Jaja alias Hugo Gomes when the game had only been running for five minutes. But Persib still picked up one point from their first game this season thanks to David da Silva’s goal. The 1-1 score lasted until the match was over.

Persib actually appeared to attack from the start. A collaboration was established on the front lines so that the ball rolled to Marc Klok’s feet, which was immediately completed with a kick. Unfortunately, his shot was dammed by Madura United goalkeeper, Satria Tama.

Madura United actually took the lead when the game had only been running for five minutes. Hugo Gomes alias Jaja brought the visitors ahead after completing a bait sent from the left side.

Persib immediately reacted by sending waves of attacks. In the 14th minute, Beckham Putra Nugraha entered the Madura United penalty box. Persib finally scored an equalizer through David da Silva’s action from the penalty spot. The referee pointed to the spot after Robi Darwis, who stabbed from the right after working with David da Silva, was brought down in a dangerous box.

David da Silva fired a right-footed shot that tricked goalkeeper Satria Tama. Persib and Madura United also started League 1 this season with a draw.

In another match, the host Dewa United beat Arema FC, 1-0. The only goal in this match was scored by Alex Martins Ferreira in the 75th minute.
