Menpora Dito Ariotedjo Explains the Reasons for the U-22 Indonesian National Team Not Participating in the Opening of the Champion’s Carnival Parade

The U-22 Indonesian national team and the gold medalists at the 2023 SEA Games today, Friday (19/5/2023), paraded around downtown Jakarta. The procession is planned to start at 08.00 WIB starting from the Kemenpora office on Jalan Gerbang Pemuda Senayan.

The procession route from Kemenpora will pass through FX Senayan then to Le Meridien – Dukuh Atas Station – HI Roundabout (turn around) – Jalan Sudirman – Statue of Youth Building (turn around) – FX Sudirman – enter GBK – VIP West.

The group will stop for a moment at the HI Roundabout. It is planned that the general chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir, will give a speech of five to 10 minutes there.

“Let’s welcome the return of the National Team and the first Gold Medal after 32 years of waiting. For this reason, @PSSI coordinated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, took the initiative to hold a celebration in welcoming the return of Garuda Muda Indonesia. You are invited to come and celebrate,” said PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir at Instagram.

Because the procession took place on weekdays and in the morning, Erick Thohir also did not forget to apologize to the people around Senayan and Sudirman who might be affected by the procession.

“Previously, I would like to thank you for the enthusiasm of all football lovers. I’m sorry if this event caused a crowd so traffic engineering was implemented by the authorities,” said Erick.

Exco PSSI Arya Sinulingga said the aim and purpose of this event was to honor the players and teams who had won the 2023 SEA Games gold medal in Cambodia.

“This is a gold medal that has been waiting for a long time, which is 32 years. After we last won it at the SEA Games Manila, Philippines in 1991,” said Arya in an official statement, quoted Thursday (18/5/2023).
