PSSI Claims to Have Debt of Nearly IDR 100 Billion, What to Do?

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – PSSI’s financial condition has recently become a topic of discussion. The Indonesian football federation is claimed to have debts worth nearly IDR 100 billion.

This news was confirmed by member of the PSSI executive committee (exco) Arya Sinulingga. He implied that these debts were inherited from the previous administration.

“We are currently billed for tens of billions in PSSI’s debt. Yes, we don’t have debt. Previously, we only received it when there was no money. Zero. What we have is debt,” said Arya to the media crew.

“The debt is tens of billions, there is also a threat to us, there is also a subpoena. This debt comes in a lot, but there is no money,” he continued when met by media crew at the GBK Madya Stadium, Thursday (6/7/2023).

Arya explained, currently the Indonesian football federation is trying to raise funds to pay off payments. However, this is not an easy task, considering that PSSI also has to find funds to finance current activities. Meanwhile, according to Arya, the debt owned by PSSI almost touched Rp. 100 billion.

“Now we are in the process of looking for money. In order to understand why some have not been paid, (that is) because besides looking for money for activities, we are also looking for money to pay off debts,” he explained.

“For example, PSSI won the selection where did the money come from? Then on FIFA Matchday, was that an advantage? No. Yesterday we played Burundi, it was a loss, wasn’t it? It was a loss too.”

“(The amount of debt) is tens of billions, the range is thin, almost 100 billion. But it’s not up to (Rp. 100 billion). It’s just under a little, that’s about that,” Arya added.
