Shopping on Instagram will be possible in the US from now on

The social network Instagram recently announced that it will be possible to purchase products from 20 stores through the app itself, without having to leave to complete the purchase.

The function, which was called checkout, is only available in the USA at the moment, but promises new features that were already being paid for and introduced, little by little.

The first of these was the ability to tag products in stories, which we talked about here.

The online shopping feature Instagram is only available for a few brands, such as Adidas, Zara, Dios, Nike, H&M, Prada and the beauty products brand Kylie Jenner. The strategy, nevertheless, is understandable.

A Nike has 85.6 million followers, Adidas 23 million, the Prada 18 million, the Zara 31 million and Kylie Jenner alone has 129 million followers.

The social network's strategy is to take advantage of the movement of influencers, fashion profiles and companies in the segment to capitalize on this by charging a fee on top of maintaining the credit card and digital payment service.

There is also the option to link to Paypal profile, facilitating purchases and making the process safer.

According to Vishal Shahhead of product at Instagram:

People were already shopping on Instagram, it just took them longer to do so.

The company's move demonstrates continuous product development and follows user trends and desires.

This notion is very important for brands like this, and a safe bet for Facebook in terms of monetization, as the social network Zuckerberg has fallen in user numbers, while in Instagram the volume has increased considerably.

Furthermore, engagement on brand posts is much higher on the social photo network.
