Strikes at British railways – The British rail unions Unite and TSSA will strike in the United Kingdom at the beginning of October, the unions report Friday. The staff is dissatisfied with the salary and working conditions. The UK rail sector employs hundreds of thousands of people.

“It is a disgrace to be faced with a three-year wage freeze during the worst crisis in decades,” said Sharon Graham, Unite general secretary.

TSSA would therefore have preferred to find “a fair, negotiated solution”. “But we just don’t have a choice,” said TSSA Secretary-General Manuel Cortes.

Unions previously cancelled strikes in September over the death of Queen Elizabeth. A strike wave has been going on in the country for some time. Workers in multiple sectors are demanding more pay because of rising inflation.
