Top 16 of BAC 2023, Fajar/Rian’s steps have not been stopped

Indonesian men’s doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto are still unstoppable at the BAC 2023 event or the Asian Badminton Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In the round of 16, Thursday (27/4/2023) night, Fajar/Rian defeated the Taiwanese pair, Lee Jhe Huei/Hsu Ya Ching.

Even though he won, Fajar admitted that he was still constrained by foot movements which made it difficult for him to catch the opponent’s bait.

“I feel that my game is not really good, earlier I also felt that my feet were not fast enough, several times I missed the opponent’s ball,” Fajar said through written information from PP PBSI in Jakarta, Friday (28/4/2023).

Even though he has secured a ticket to the quarter-finals, Fajar is not satisfied with his victory because he still makes mistakes that shouldn’t have happened if he could be more consistent.

“Thank God, today’s match was smooth. We did win, but there were still mistakes made by both of us. This must be corrected so that the next match can be even better,” Fajar said.

Meanwhile, Rian also admitted that his performance against the Lee Jhe Huei/Hsu Ya Ching pair in the round of 16 yesterday was still not good.

The world number one Indonesia’s men’s doubles victory was also influenced by the opponent’s playing which was also not good, giving him the advantage of winning two games straight 21-14, 21-12.

“We want to focus more on preparing ourselves, correcting deficiencies, so that when we start the Race to the Olympics we are ready mentally, physically, and others,” said Rian.
