These are the 28 players called up to prepare for the U-23 Asian Cup

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The Indonesian national team has called up 28 players in preparation for appearing in the U-23 Asian Cup.

Players who play with Dutch Eredivisie club SC Heerenveen, Nathan Tjoe-A-On, will join 27 other players in preparing for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup in Qatar.

Nathan was the last name called by coach Shin Tae-yong. Previously, the coach from South Korea called up 27 squads who were targeted to qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.

The 22 year old left back is a new face in the Indonesian national team. He only has two caps and one assist with the senior national team when they beat Vietnam twice in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian zone second round of Group F some time ago.

Apart from Nathan, five players playing in overseas competitions also received calls from Shin Tae-yong. The five players are Rafael Struick (ADO Den Haag), Ivar Jenner (Jong FC Utrecht), Justin Hubner (Cerezo Osaka), Pratama Arhan (Suwon FC), and Marselino Ferdinan (KMSK Deinze).

Persija Jakarta contributed the most players. There are five players, namely Rizky Ridho, Muhammad Ferrari, Dony Tri Pamungkas, Rayhan Hannan, and Ilham Rio Fahmi.

The club that contributed the most players after Persija was Borneo FC with four players. PSIS Semarang sent three players.

The Garuda Muda squad gathered in Jakarta on Sunday (31/3/2024). General Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir was present to provide encouragement and motivation at the hotel where the team was staying.

Rizky Ridho and his friends will leave for Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Monday (1/4/2024) to undergo a training camp there for 10 days.

While in Dubai, Garuda Muda will play two closed trial matches against Saudi Arabia on April 5 and the United Arab Emirates, four days later.

In the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup, Indonesia is in group A with hosts Qatar, Jordan and Australia.

Indonesia will play Group A against Qatar on Monday (15/4/2024), then against Australia on Thursday (18/4/2024), and finally against Jordan on Sunday (21/4/2024).
